A tough point earned for Athlone in wet miserable conditions in Monaghan. Pre match rainfall was so heavy, a number of Town fans had to cease their journey around Ballymahon due to floods!
Town were forced to make a personel change during warmup with Noel McGee suffering a recurrance of a hamstring strain and so Stephen Place moved into the starting lineup. The game featured some tough tackles, on both sides, but unfortunately no goals. Regardless of this it was a good point and a clean sheet for Town who built on the previous draw at home to Shels
