We were robbed! In a game Town always looked like winning, the 4th official pulled 4 minutes injury time out of nowhere and typicially just entering that 4th minute UCD popped up to score the equaliser. Harsh, but I suppose Shels fans felt the same 2 weeks ago …

Athlone played some really good football with Franco Georgescu and Davie O’Connor making instant impacts. O’Connor in particular was a thorn in the side of the UCD right full for the entire game. Yet another good performance from Robbie Benson, who supplied the cross for Stephen Place to get back into the goal scorers sheet.

This was also my 1st visit to the “Belfield Bowl”. Pity the stand was empty enough but the facilities are top notch. Honorable mention to the UCD PA Announcer, anyone who was there will agree that the man is a legend!
